Emily works as a freelance medical illustrator and teacher of Anatomy at Cambridge University and is a council member of the Medical Artists’ Association of Great Britain. In additional to illustrating numerous medical publications and producing artworks and animations for the Wellcome Trust, her projects have included providing forensic facial reconstruction for BBC’s Crimewatch and anatomical body art for Channel 5′s Doctor Doctor, and illustrating a piano as part of the Street Piano project. Blending anatomical precision with aesthetic forms, in 557 Shadows Emily takes inspiration from the Day of the Dead celebrations to nineteenth-century medical diagrams to present unique views of the body as a whole and its individual parts.
